The avalanche prone locations are to be found on steep slopes of all aspects. In general, the snow layering is unfavourable. Avalanches ordinarily fracture in the fresh fallen snow and snowdrift, yet in some places break through to the old snowpack. New fallen snow and snowdrift blanket older danger zones. In outlying terrain away from secured ski runs, extensive experience as well as very cautious assessment of avalanche hazards is imperative for backcountry skiers and freeriders.
